The April, 2010, Clergy Leadership Institute was held from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 17, 2010, at First Christian Church, Corpus Christi, Texas.

Seminars were provided on "The Evangelizing Process."

Morning seminar topics:

The January, 2010, Clergy Leadership Institute was held on Saturday, January 23, at University Christian Church, Austin, Texas.

Seminars were provided on "Growing a Healthy Church."

The October, 2009, Clergy Leadership Institute was held on Saturday, October 10, 2009, at Hyde Park Christian Church in Austin, Texas. This was a postponement of the previously planned September 12 event.

Seminars were provided on "Ministerial Ethics."

Morning seminar topics:

• "Medical Ethics at the End of Life" by Rev. Dr. Leslie Kilby Green
• "Sticky Situations for Ministers" by Rev. Dani Loving Cartwright, Regional Minister, Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in the Southwest.

Lunch: Small Group discussions

Afternoon seminar topic:

• "What the New Order of Ministry Means for You" by Rev. Dani Loving Cartwright, Regional Minister, Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in the Southwest.

The April 2009 Clergy Leadership Institute was held at Rolling Oaks Christian Church in San Antonio, Texas and was attended by 27 people. Workshops were held on two tracks: "Preaching" and "Church Administration."

Preaching workshops included:

• "Preaching the Word" by Rev. Jacqueline Baker
• "Preaching the Lectionary" by Rev. Don Tuttle

Church Administration workshops included:

• "Building Web Ministries Instead of Websites" by Bill Anderton, TeleWorship
• "How to Build an Effective Web Ministry" by Bill Anderton, TeleWorship

Lunch: Small group discussions.

The afternoon session "Sermon Preparation and Resources" by Dr. Chuck Kutz-Marks was available to participants of both tracks.

September 27, 2008

The September Clergy Leadership Institute was held at Central Christian Church in Austin, Texas and was attended by 27 people. Workshops were held on two tracks: "Biblical Studies" and "Pastoral Care."

Biblical Studies workshops included:

• "Old Testament" by Rev. Dr. Henry Keys
• "New Testament" by Rev. Gregory Ross
• "Biblical Interpretation" by Rev. Dr. Jimmy Cobb

Pastoral Care workshops included:

• "Offering Pre-marital Counseling" by Rev. Dr. Harold Guess
• "Grief and Loss" by Rev. Beverly Lawson

Lunch: Small group discussions facilitated by Rev. Cliff Willis.

The afternoon session "Biblical Interpretation by Dr. Cobb was available to participants of both tracks.

April 19, 2008

The April 19, 2008 Clergy Leadership Institute was attended by 32 people and Clergy Dialogue and Covenant Discipleship Groups, again presented by Dr. Landon Shultz, were continued from the January 2008 CLI, although attendance at the January session was not required. Workshops were held on two tracks: "Pastoral Care" and "Christian Education."

Pastoral Care workshops included:

• "Hospital Visitation" by Rev. Dr. Leslie Green
• "Ministering to the Dying" by Rev. Margaret Clemings
• "Marrying, Burying, and Baptizing" by Rev. Rod Coleman

Christian Education workshops included:

• "Recruiting and Training Teachers" by Rev. Karen Gaudet
• "Teaching a Pastor's Class" by Rev. David Green
• "Assessing and Using Curriculum" by Rev. Mary Lu Johnston

The January 26, 2008 Clergy Leadership Institute was attended by 32 people and featured Clergy Dialogue and Covenant Discipleship Groups, an effort to assist clergy in establishing groups for support and exchange of information and ideas, led by Dr. Landon Shultz. Workshops were presented on two tracks: "Preaching" and "Church Administration."

Preaching workshops included:

• "Sermon Preparation" by Rev. Chuck Kutz-Marks
• "Finding and Using Illustrations" by Rev. Amy Elder
• "Preaching the Word" by Jackie Baker

Church administration workshops included:

• "Conflict Management" by Rev. Frank Goldsmith
• "Budgeting and Stewardship" by Larry Cowan
• "Successful Communications" by James McGuffee
