Rev. Mary Lu Johnston

Minister of Music and Education

Mary Lu Johnston joined the staff of University Christian Church in July of 2001.

She is a graduate of Brite Divinity School (M. Div.) and Texas Christian University (B. A.). Ordained in 1983, Mary Lu has served several churches in the state of Texas, including the Austin area, San Antonio, Arlington, and Jacksboro.

Mary Lu began working in music ministry at the age of twenty. She has a special interest in the area of Worship. She has led workshops on creative worship and has designed and led worship for the Association of Disciple Musicians and for youth and adult events throughout the Southwest Region.

Mary Lu has worked with youth and children for more than twenty years. She has keynoted and written curriculum for both children and youth summer camps. She serves on the Outdoor Ministry Council of the Bluebonnet Area, which coordinates and directs the summer camping program.

Mary Lu is married to Ted White, an attorney. Mary Lu and Ted have two teenage daughters.
