2.001  Use of Gifts and Bequests

UNDESIGNATED GIFTS AND BEQUESTS.

1.         With the exception of Memorial Gifts, all gifts/bequests (including non-cash gifts) made to University Christian Church of $2,000.00 or less, without designation as to their intended use, shall be deposited to University Christian Church’s General Fund.

2.         With the exception of Memorial Gifts, all gifts/bequests (including non-cash gifts) made to University Christian Church greater than $2,000.00 and not more than $20,000.00, without designation as to their intended use, shall be allocated as follows:

1. Twenty-five percent shall be deposited to University Christian Church’s General Fund.

2. Twenty-five percent shall be distributed to the Trustees of the University Christian Church Permanent Endowment Fund for use under the terms of the Endowment.

3. Twenty-five percent shall be distributed for outreach, social action projects, and/or University student programs. The specific use of these funds will be determined by the Board, upon recommendation(s) from the current members of the Outreach Council and/or the University Council at the time the funds were received, and the Minister assigned to the Outreach Council and/or the University Council, respectively.

4. Twenty-five percent shall be distributed for capital use (such as retirement of building debt, property maintenance and improvement, the purchase of new equipment).  The specific use of these funds will be determined by the Board, upon recommendation(s) from the current members of the Property Council at the time the funds were received, and the Minister assigned to the Property Council.

3. With the exception of Memorial Gifts, all gifts/bequests (including non-cash gifts) made to University Christian Church greater than $20,000.00, without designation as to their intended use, shall be allocated by the Board upon the recommendation from a specially formed task force named by the Board President at the time of the receipt of funds.  The task force should consist of at least five and not more than eight members who shall be approved by the Board.  In making its recommendations, the task force shall be conscious of the allocations described above in determining the distribution of the funds.

4. All undesignated Memorial Gifts will be added to the University Christian Church Permanent Endowment Fundand specified as a gift/bequest given in memory of the person or persons being memorialized.
