Sober Tailgate Recap!

Sober Tailgate Recap!
by

The annual Sober Tailgate for University High School was this past Saturday, and we’re so glad the weather held up! Another tailgate was originally planned for the UT vs. TCU game in September, but it was unfortunately canceled due to weather.

UHS hosted the tailgate on the UCC patio, and the beautiful fall morning was filled with tons of fun activities. Pitalicious was parked out front selling delicious Mediterranean food, while we sponsored popsicles from Steel City Pops and the musical entertainment from Code Blue, which featured our own Bill Howland.

There was an informational table on sober resources for UT students from the UT Center for Students in Recovery, yard games, a petting zoo, therapy dogs, and more!

Most importantly, the place was packed with anxious and hopeful UT fans wanting to see the Longhorns defeat the Baylor Bears!

Overall, it was a successful event that helped raise awareness for and celebrate University High School, Austin’s only sober high school. If you haven’t heard about University High School, which is housed inside UCC, and the amazing work they do to help students in recovery, check out the blog post we wrote about them!

We already can’t wait for next year’s tailgate. Hook ’em Horns!
