The Great Window

The Great Window overlooks the sanctuary above the choir loft.

Given by Dr. and Mrs. O.B. Douglas and Mr. and Mrs. Roswell G. Miller in memory of the Douglas’ daughter, Marjory Nell Douglas Hirsch,
the Great Window symbolizes UCC’s ministry to education and to students of University of Texas

Its base is 16 feet and its height is 21 feet.

It was designed by Marguerite Gaudin of the Willet Stained Glass Co. of Philadelphia.

The text in the window says “Thanks be to God who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.”

This text comes from 1 Corinthians 15:56-58 (NRSVUE):
The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
Therefore, my beloved brothers and sisters, be steadfast, immovable,
always excelling in the work of the Lord because you know that in the Lord your labor is not in vain.
